Where to find Sustainable Wood

Get it out of skips & keep your eyes peeled for pubs, restaurants & shops etc that are being "gutted" and refurbished - you can get some quality stuff including tropical hardwoods and prevent it getting burnt or scrapped!

Check out reclamation yards, they'll often have good wood suitable for flooring etc. If you have any good local suppliers then add their detail here!

Cork tile flooring is easy to lay, relatively cheap to buy, provides insulation (lovely on the feet in winter!) and is sustainable - the cork is the bark of the cork oak which comes from the cork forests in Portugal. It's easy to clean - we suggest using Osmo Polyxwhich is a plant based oil that is a bit like varnish but is much nicer to look at and easier to maintain and renovate.
